Davido confirms campaign role in Osun, backing Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid with youth mobilisation efforts

Nigerian music star Davido has confirmed his appointment as Head of Youth Mobilisation for the re-election campaign council of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.

The appointment places the award-winning artiste at the centre of mobilisation efforts ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Davido announced the development on his official X account, expressing enthusiasm about supporting his uncle’s campaign and ensuring a smooth electoral process.

He wrote that he had been appointed by the governor and campaign flag bearer, adding that the team looks forward to a successful campaign and re-election bid.

The move further cements Davido’s growing involvement in Nigerian politics, particularly in Osun State, where he has played an active role in previous election cycles.

In 2022, the singer was visibly engaged in the governorship race, campaigning vigorously for Adeleke and celebrating his eventual victory.

Beyond campaign activities, Davido has also held formal roles within the state.

In 2025, the Osun State Government appointed him as Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, a position aimed at supporting sports development.

Political observers have continued to weigh in on his rising profile.

Ben Murray-Bruce previously suggested that the artiste possesses the political capital and background to pursue higher office in the future.

Davido has also used his platform to comment on broader political issues.

In 2024, he publicly criticised electoral processes during the Edo governorship race, urging citizens to remain vigilant.

His latest appointment signals a deeper, more structured role in political mobilisation, as the Adeleke campaign prepares for another electoral contest in Osun State.
