Orekoya re-election support Somolu gains momentum as residents praise legislative work, youth initiatives, and infrastructure projects
Residents and stakeholders in Somolu constituency have intensified calls for the re-election of Abiodun Orekoya to the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2027, citing his performance since assuming office in 2023.

The Orekoya re-election support Somolu campaign has gained traction across the constituency, with community leaders pointing to his legislative record, grassroots engagement, and investment in human capital development as key drivers of public confidence.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Abiodun Orekoya has contributed to several legislative efforts, including the Lagos State Administration of Civil Justice Bill (2023), the Local Government Administration Bill (2024), and the Community Development Association Bill (2024), aimed at strengthening governance frameworks in the state.
Constituents also highlight education-focused interventions as a standout achievement. Available records indicate that at least 147 students have received bursaries, while four beneficiaries secured full scholarships through his sponsorship.
Additional support included the distribution of approximately 250 GCE forms and 150 JAMB forms to students within the constituency.
In the area of economic empowerment, Abiodun Orekoya is reported to have provided assistance to more than 341 constituents through tools, grants, and business support initiatives designed to stimulate entrepreneurship and reduce unemployment.
Sources within the constituency also confirm that 29 individuals have secured employment within the Lagos State public service through his facilitation.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Youth and Social Development, Abiodun Orekoya has advanced youth-focused programmes, including exchange initiatives, annual sports competitions, the Somolu Youth Assembly, and Youth-Police dialogue platforms.
Stakeholders say these initiatives have created meaningful opportunities for mentorship and leadership development.
Infrastructure development has also featured prominently in assessments of his tenure. Residents credit him with facilitating the reconstruction and rehabilitation of at least ten roads, improving mobility and supporting local economic activity.
Despite having served less than a full term, many constituents describe his record as a powerful benchmark for representation in Somolu, reinforcing calls for continuity ahead of the 2027 elections.
