The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Abia State, Mrs Ngozi Ezeoma, confirmed the incident in Umuahia, stating that the crash occurred at about 2:10 p.m. and involved a white Nissan Caravan bus.

According to her, preliminary findings from the Abia bus crash FRSC report indicated that a tyre burst led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

A total of 17 male passengers were involved in the accident. Four were confirmed dead, while 12 sustained varying degrees of injury. One passenger reportedly escaped without injury.

Mrs Ezeoma further explained that a rescue team from the command responded swiftly and evacuated the victims to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, for urgent medical attention.
