President Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as new JAMB Registrar, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede when his tenure ends in 2026
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), following the completion of Professor Ishaq Oloyede’s tenure in 2026.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with strong expertise in digital systems, examination technology, and institutional reform.
The Presidency described him as a highly accomplished academic with over 15 years of experience advising government agencies on digital transformation and examination system improvements.
Aina is expected to officially assume office on July 31, 2026, when the tenure of the outgoing Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, comes to an end.
The statement highlighted his academic background, noting that he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, a Master’s in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom.
It further stated that he has completed advanced management training at the Lagos Business School and has worked with key examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board.
Aina is also a member of several professional organisations, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers and international engineering bodies.
The Presidency expressed confidence that he would build on existing reforms at JAMB and further strengthen the integrity and efficiency of Nigeria’s examination system.

President Tinubu noted that the new Registrar is expected to bring innovation and leadership to advance the organisation’s mandate.
