Linda Ejiofor AMVCA awards history made as Nollywood actress becomes first to win Best Lead and Supporting Actress in one night

The milestone, which has been widely celebrated across the Nigerian entertainment industry, reinforces Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman’s growing reputation as one of Nollywood’s most versatile performers.

The Linda Ejiofor AMVCA awards history moment was achieved through her acclaimed performances in The Herd and The Serpent’s Gift, roles she described as emotionally demanding and creatively challenging.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Igbo, the actress reflected on her journey, her career growth, and her marriage to fellow Nollywood actor Ibrahim Suleiman.

Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman said her success in marriage is largely shaped by mutual understanding, noting that sharing the same profession has helped both partners navigate the pressures of the entertainment industry.

According to her, being in the same field allows them to understand demanding schedules and creative commitments without conflict.

“The interesting thing about our marriage is that we are both in the same industry, so we understand the dynamics,” she said.

At a time when celebrity relationships often face public scrutiny, the actress advised couples to prioritise supportive partnerships built on trust and shared growth.

She emphasised the importance of choosing a partner who encourages personal and professional development, describing it as key to a stable home environment.

Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman also reflected on her entry into acting, revealing that she initially had little interest in the profession until she was informed about an audition for the popular Africa Magic series Tinsel.

She said her interest was sparked when she learned the role offered financial incentives, a decision that eventually launched her long-standing career in Nollywood.

The actress added that she is now interested in taking on more diverse roles, particularly villain characters, after years of portraying “good girl” roles on screen.

Her historic AMVCA achievement continues to draw praise, with industry stakeholders describing it as a defining moment in her career and a notable milestone in Nigerian film awards history.
