Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) in Lagos directed all students to remain in their hostels on Tuesday night after bandit-like men were sighted within the campus premises, sparking a large-scale security operation.

The university’s Student Council issued an emergency advisory confirming that security agencies were conducting a comprehensive sweep of the campus green areas.
In the late-night statement, the council said the institution had activated a coordinated response involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Navy.
“We are aware of the circulating concerns regarding reports of unauthorised individuals within the school premises,” the Student Council said.
Students were strictly instructed not to leave their hostels until an official all-clear is announced. The advisory warned that sounds of gunfire or similar activity might be heard, but emphasised these would be controlled security operations.
“Please remain calm and do not be alarmed,” the statement added. “The armed personnel currently visible on campus are there strictly for your protection.”
The council urged members of the university community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious movements immediately to campus security services.
The exact details of the incident, including whether any arrests were made, remain unclear. Pan-Atlantic University is yet to issue an independent public statement on the security threat.
