The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has sealed Westgate Arena Club and Dave Premium and Suites over repeated noise pollution and failure to comply with abatement notices

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency sealed a popular nightclub and a hotel in separate operations on Monday over persistent noise pollution and repeated breaches of environmental regulations.

Westgate Arena Club in Olowora and Dave Premium and Suites in Alapere, Ketu, were shut down on the directive of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, as part of ongoing efforts to enforce environmental laws and safeguard public health.

According to a statement released on Tuesday via LASEPA’s official X account, Westgate Arena Club, located on Apostolic Church Close in Olowora, was sealed for continued noise pollution and non-compliance with abatement notices.

Dave Premium and Suites on Alhaji Irorun Street, off Kazeem Street in Alapere, Ketu, faced similar enforcement for environmental infractions.

“The enforcement exercise followed repeated environmental infractions, particularly noise pollution, as well as the affected establishments’ failure to comply with abatement notices and other regulatory requirements aimed at protecting the environment and the well-being of the residents,” the agency stated.

General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to protecting public health and fostering a cleaner, safer environment across Lagos.

“Environmental compliance is a collective responsibility. Individuals and corporate organisations must adhere strictly to environmental laws and regulations,” he said.

Ajayi warned that LASEPA would continue to intensify enforcement actions against violators to curb nuisances and shield residents from the harmful effects of pollution.

He urged business owners, especially in the hospitality and entertainment sectors, to embrace responsible practices and cooperate fully with regulatory authorities.

The latest closures underscore the Lagos State Government’s determination to ensure full compliance with environmental standards without compromise, as part of broader initiatives to improve quality of life in the bustling metropolis.
