A major fire broke out on Friday at the Bono Energy Terminal located in the Coconut area of Apapa, Lagos State, prompting an urgent response from emergency services.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident in a brief statement, saying firefighters were actively working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to surrounding facilities.

Spokesperson for the agency, Shakiru Amodu, said the service was already on ground battling the fire outbreak at the fuel terminal along the Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway.
“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos,” he said.
He added that further updates would be provided as the situation develops.
At the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not yet been determined, and authorities had not confirmed the extent of damage or whether any casualties were recorded.
Emergency responders were still at the scene working to bring the situation under control and prevent escalation in the densely industrialised Apapa axis, which hosts several fuel depots and logistics facilities.

The incident adds to growing concerns over fire safety compliance in Lagos industrial zones, where heavy fuel storage and transport activities continue to pose significant risks.
