Jigawa Police arrests led to eight suspects, recovery of 3,427 illicit drugs, stolen cows, vandalised cables and electronics in statewide operations
The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested eight suspects and recovered 3,427 assorted illicit drugs, stolen cattle, vandalised electric cables and electronic gadgets during a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.

The Jigawa Police arrests were announced on Thursday in Dutse by the command’s spokesperson, Shi’isu Adam, who described the operations as a major breakthrough in the command’s sustained efforts to combat crime and protect lives and property.
According to Adam, the operations demonstrate the command’s commitment to proactive policing and denying criminal elements safe haven across Jigawa State.
One of the operations, carried out on July 8, 2026, led to the arrest of a suspected vandal allegedly found in possession of cut electric cable wires believed to have been removed from behind Hotel Hotel in Dutse.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of suspected receivers of the vandalised cable and other stolen property,” Adam said.
The police identified the suspects as Aminu Mohammed, 17, of Fagoji Quarters, Abdullahi Mustapha, 17, of Zai Quarters and Sani Umar, 18, of Shagari Quarters, all in Dutse Local Government Area.
According to the police, the suspects are assisting investigators and will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
In a separate operation on the same day, officers attached to the Dutse Division arrested Suleiman Muhammad, 23, of Mariri Quarters in Kano State in connection with suspected stolen property.
Police said they recovered a PlayStation 5 console and two plasma television sets valued at approximately ₦2.5 million from the suspect.
Adam said the rightful owners of the recovered items had been identified, and the property was released to them on bond, while the suspect would face prosecution after investigations are completed.
The command also announced the arrest of a suspected cattle rustler in Guri Local Government Area following credible intelligence and collaboration with local vigilantes.
According to the spokesperson, officers recovered three suspected stolen cows concealed within the suspect’s compound.
The livestock has since been returned to the owner on bond, while investigations continue to identify other members of the alleged cattle-rustling syndicate.
The command also intensified its campaign against drug trafficking through coordinated raids on identified criminal hotspots in Dutse, Gumel and Kazaure local government areas.
The operations resulted in the arrest of three suspected drug dealers identified as Garba Muhammad, also known as Dare, 50; Buhari Umar, also known as Uban Kasa, 25; and Auwalu Dan Jos, 25.
Police said the raids led to the recovery of 3,427 assorted illicit drugs, four blocks of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, and ₦100,660 believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
The recovered exhibits include 1,440 capsules of Exol, 258 tablets of Tramadol, 419 tablets of Pregabalin, 679 D5 tablets, 80 tubes of rubber solution and 551 wraps of suspected cannabis.
Adam said all the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded.
The latest Jigawa Police arrests come as security agencies across Nigeria continue to intensify intelligence-led operations against violent crime, cattle rustling,
vandalism and illicit drug trafficking. Earlier this week, the Lagos State Police Command announced the arrest of 150 suspects during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts in the Igando and Idimu areas of Lagos, recovering unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property and illicit drugs.

The Jigawa State Police Command said it would continue to work with residents and community-based security groups to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve public safety across the state.
