An unnamed Nigerian car owner stood beside his newly acquired vehicle on Monday, 31 August 2026, and blamed a friend’s insistence on a new car test drive after the pal lost control and crashed the car, according to a video circulated on X by content page Chuks Eric, known online as ChuksEricE.
The clip, which spread through Nigerian social media on Monday morning, shows the damaged vehicle after what the owner described as a short outing that should never have happened.

The friend had asked to take the wheel. Control was then lost. The car owner, speaking in a mix of English and Nigerian Pidgin while looking over the wreck, said, “Give me the key, let me test your new car, na him cause this problem.”
Neither man has been publicly named. The exact road and city have not been confirmed in the footage shared by ChuksEricE, which had drawn more than 64,000 views by early afternoon.
Viewers who recognised the model suggested it was a Lexus, though that has not been independently verified.
What is clear from the recording is the owner’s raw frustration at handing over keys so soon after taking delivery.

One commenter under the original post put it bluntly: never let friends drive a car if they do not own one of their own.
Another wrote that some vehicles demand full attention and that a Lexus, if that is what it is, is unforgiving when driven without focus.
