The former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, who turned 57, earned the well wishes of some Nigerians on Sunday as they celebrated him.

Celebrity Nigerian journalist, Dele Momodu, was one of the few top personalities who felicitated publicly with Ambode. He prayed that God continues to bless him.

He wrote, “Happy birthday my very dear Brother, the former Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency MR AKINWUNMI AMBODE. May God almighty continue to bless and protect you and your family… Warmest regards always.”

In his own words, the former Chief Press Secretary during Ambode’s tenure as governor, Habib Haruna, said Ambode’s life is centred around making life better for the people.

“It is that time of the year again to celebrate a pragmatic leader, a humanist, a game changer and a man of the people on the occasion of his 57th Birthday.

“The period of May 29, 2015 to May 29, 2019 will forever be etched in the minds of Lagosians. Within a space of four years, you dotted the length and breathe of Lagos with landmark projects too numerous to mention.

“Your mantra, centred on making life better for the people, has continued to resonate loudly across Lagos as your contribution to the continuous growth of the Centre of Excellence is glaring for all to see.

“Lagos, indeed, was better for it. Being your Chief Press Secretary was the honour of a lifetime,” he wrote.

Ever since he left office, the former governor has chosen to retire to a quiet life.

The last time he was on social media was on May 28, 2019, when he handed over reins of government in Lagos State to His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu.

The last time his voice was heard was when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, raided his house in Epe and Ikoyi on learning that he just arrived from abroad around June last year.

The former governor has gone through a thorny road in 2019.

However, may he continue to enjoy God’s grace in his life.

Happy birthday.
