Staff of Globacom Limited swapped office routines for sporting rivalry, laughter and camaraderie as they gathered at The Stable, Surulere, Lagos, to mark the telecommunications company’s 23rd anniversary.
The anniversary celebration, held on Saturday under the theme Glo Fitfest 2026, offered employees an opportunity to unwind, reconnect with colleagues and celebrate the people behind the company’s more than two decades of operations.

From table tennis and Big Ludo to Big Snooker, Beer Pong, Sack Race and Big Ayo, the event provided a lively mix of activities, with a keenly contested football tournament emerging as the major attraction.
The departmental teams were organised into clusters to encourage collaboration and strengthen relationships among employees.
Dressed in specially designed coloured T-shirts, staff brought an infectious energy to The Stable, transforming the venue into a colourful arena of cheers, banter and friendly competition.
For several hours, the familiar language of deadlines, targets and deliverables gave way to laughter, sporting rivalry and the simple joy of playing together.
The football tournament, in particular, produced intense competition as departments battled for supremacy and the bragging rights that came with victory.
Some teams strengthened their line-ups with colleagues who were accomplished footballers from outside Lagos, adding another layer of competitiveness to the matches.
Glo Rockets, comprising staff from the Sales Force and Value Added Services department, ultimately produced the decisive performance.
Reinforced by some of the company’s footballing talents from the regions, Glo Rockets defeated Strikers FC, whose squad comprised employees from the Rollout, Information Systems, Gloworld Development and E-Pin departments.
The victory earned Glo Rockets the championship trophy and a cash prize of N1 million, while the runners-up received N750,000.
Players from both teams were also presented with medals for their performances, while winners in the other sporting disciplines received medals and cash prizes.
Beyond the trophies and financial rewards, however, Glo Fitfest 2026 offered employees an opportunity to strengthen bonds across departments and celebrate their shared identity as members of the Glo family.
The event also reflected the company’s recognition that a strong workplace culture extends beyond professional targets to include collaboration, recreation and a sense of belonging.
For Globacom, the 23rd anniversary represented more than another milestone on the corporate calendar.
It was an opportunity to celebrate the men and women whose ideas, commitment and resilience have contributed to the company’s journey of innovation, enterprise and transformation over more than two decades.

As the sporting activities ended and the trophies were lifted, the strongest takeaway from Glo Fitfest 2026 was perhaps not the final scores, but the renewed team spirit and camaraderie among the employees who make up the organisation.
