The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a power outage affecting parts of Keffi, Akwanga and surrounding areas in Nasarawa State after three transmission towers collapsed along a major electricity transmission line.
The incident occurred at about 4:06 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, during rainy and windy conditions, according to TCN.

The affected infrastructure is located along the Karu-Keffi-Akwanga 132kV Single Circuit Transmission Line, which tripped on overcurrent relay protection following the collapse.
TCN said investigations carried out after the line tripped confirmed that Towers T78, T79 and T80 had collapsed.
The company immediately isolated the affected transmission line as a safety measure for its personnel and members of the public.
The collapse has disrupted electricity transmission through the Keffi and Akwanga Transmission Substations.
TCN said all 33kV outgoing feeders at both substations are currently unavailable.
“Consequently, all 33kV outgoing feeders at the Keffi and Akwanga Transmission Substations are presently unavailable,” the company said.
It added that no load could be nominated on the affected feeders until further notice.
The development is expected to affect electricity customers supplied through the affected substations in Keffi, Akwanga and neighbouring areas.
TCN said its engineers have been deployed to the affected location to assess the extent of the damage caused by the collapsed towers.
The assessment is expected to determine the materials, equipment and other requirements needed to commence restoration work on the transmission line.
However, the company did not give a specific timeline for the restoration of electricity supply.
TCN said it was working to complete the necessary repairs as quickly as possible and provide further updates as restoration efforts progress.
The transmission company also apologised to customers affected by the outage and appealed for their understanding while its engineers work to restore the damaged infrastructure.
The collapse highlights the vulnerability of electricity transmission infrastructure to severe weather conditions, particularly during periods of heavy rain and strong winds.

For residents and businesses in the affected parts of Nasarawa State, however, the immediate concern remains the restoration of electricity supply.
