First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has said President Bola Tinubu will move Nigeria from economic reforms to prosperity if re-elected for a second term in 2027.
She made the statement on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, at the North-Central Mega Rally organised by the All Progressives Congress to mobilise support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
The First Lady linked her remarks to the President’s Independence Day address on 1 October, titled “From Reforms to Prosperity”. She said the administration had completed the difficult phase of reforms and was now focused on delivering tangible benefits to citizens.
“President Tinubu is a man who believes in the unity, security and prosperity of our nation,” she said. “The Independence Day message of Mr President was titled ‘From Reforms to Prosperity’. Therefore, Mr President is saying that they are going to reform the sector, but now is the time for prosperity, and we can see our economy is stabilising.”
Mrs Tinubu pointed to what she described as positive economic signs, including a stabilising foreign exchange market and the return of investors. She also praised governors in the region for advancing infrastructure development.
“Foreign exchange is going down, and investors are coming back to Nigeria, our farmers too. You can see all our governors here, they are doing infrastructural development like no other time before,” she said. “I have been in the Senate for 12 years. This is the best time I will see government fixing roads and building a lot of infrastructure.”
She described the President as a bold leader willing to take difficult decisions and urged party members to take the message of continuity to communities across the North-Central zone.
“One thing I want to say is that as we all go back to our various states, tell everyone that Mr President Bola Tinubu is a leader who is very bold. As we can see, he will not stop by being at home to take difficult decisions. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us into prosperity,” she added.
Mrs Tinubu called on voters to support the entire APC ticket, saying a second term would enable the administration to build a stronger economy, safer communities and a greater Nigeria.
“Therefore, vote for continuity, vote for capacity, vote for prosperity, vote for the re-election of Mr President and all the candidates of APC from top to bottom,” she said.
The rally drew the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, governors from the North-Central region and other party leaders. Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the North-Central zonal coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, pledged that the zone would work to secure the President’s re-election.
