Fearless makes bold return to Felabration 2026

Fearless Energy Drink, a brand of Rite Foods Limited, has returned as the energy drink sponsor of Felabration 2026, which is running from 12 to 18 October at the New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos, with rap and dance challenges designed to showcase emerging Nigerian talent and celebrate the legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

The festival, themed “Who Are You?”, centres on individuality, creativity and self-expression, values that Fearless is seeking to connect with through interactive activities and consumer rewards.

The partnership places the brand within one of Nigeria’s most recognisable cultural celebrations, where music, fashion and social commentary intersect.

As part of its activation programme, the brand scheduled the Fearless Rap Challenge for Tuesday, 13 October, inviting aspiring rappers to demonstrate their lyrical abilities and compete for rewards.

The programme also includes the Fearless Dance Challenge on Friday, 16 October, offering dancers an opportunity to showcase their signature moves and creativity.

The activities form part of Fearless’ wider effort to engage festival-goers beyond product promotion by creating opportunities for young people to express themselves and gain visibility for their talents.

Speaking on the sponsorship, Adeniyi Aderuku, Brand Manager of Fearless Energy Drink, said the partnership reflects the brand’s commitment to celebrating young Nigerians and their creative potential.

“Fela challenged people to think differently, speak boldly, and stand for what they believe in. At Felabration, Fearless is creating opportunities for people to express themselves, showcase their talent, and be part of an experience that celebrates originality,” Aderuku said.

“It is about giving people the confidence and platform to show the world who they are,” he added.

The sponsorship builds on Fearless’ previous involvement with the festival.

In 2021, the brand presented a posthumous award to Fela at the Afrika Shrine, recognising his courage, originality and contribution to African music.

In 2025, Fearless served as Felabration’s exclusive energy drink sponsor, running its “Shakara, No Fear” campaign through talent competitions and interactive experiences.

The campaign featured rap and dance contests that gave emerging performers opportunities to compete for prizes and connect with festival audiences.

The renewed partnership suggests a continued focus on using entertainment platforms to connect brands with younger consumers, particularly through experiences that encourage participation rather than passive engagement.

Felabration itself has grown into an annual cultural gathering since its establishment in 1998 by Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, Fela’s daughter.

The festival honours the musician’s enduring influence on Afrobeat, Nigerian identity and artistic expression, while introducing his music and ideas to younger generations.

This year’s theme, “Who Are You?”, invites audiences to reflect on identity and individuality, echoing the independent spirit that shaped Fela’s music and public life.

The festival’s programme also features performances by Femi Kuti and The Positive Force, Made Kuti, and Seun Kuti and Egypt 80, alongside other artistes.

The presence of successive generations of the Kuti family reinforces the festival’s role in sustaining Fela’s musical legacy while providing a platform for contemporary performers and creative communities.

For Rite Foods Limited, the sponsorship forms part of its broader engagement with Nigerian entertainment and popular culture.

The company’s portfolio includes Fearless Energy Drink, Bigi carbonated soft drinks, Bigi Premium Drinking Water, Sosa Fruit Drink, sausage products and LIDA Malt.

With the festival continuing until Sunday, 18 October, the remaining programme offers Fearless another opportunity to engage consumers through music, movement and creative expression.

The dance challenge scheduled for Friday is expected to be among the brand’s key activities ahead of the festival’s finale.

As Felabration continues to celebrate a musician who challenged convention and encouraged independent thought, Fearless is positioning its sponsorship around a similar message: the importance of confidence, originality and giving emerging talent the opportunity to be heard.
