[dropcap]A[/dropcap] depressed Nigerian man, Akinola Ajala, has been found on the street of London.

And according to Ajala, who is always seen around Lewisham Shopping Centre, he moved to London to pursue his educational career at the age of 18 years after he finished his secondary school education at [tooltip text=”CAC Grammar School” gravity=”nw”]The school is located in Aperin Oniyere, in Ibadan, Oyo State [/tooltip] in Ibadan, Oyo State, southwest Nigeria.

While narrating how he landed in the country, Ajala revealed to Freelanews that though he was initially born in England, his parents returned to Nigeria when he was very young. However, on August 15, 1982, his mother sent him back to complete his study.

“I’m from Ile Alawore in the old Ade Oyo and I’ve been here for over 40years now. I currently live at [tooltip text=”Mental Health Home” gravity=”w”]Are things getting on top of you? When asked the reason he didn’t look for job, Ajala, whose answers were not really coherent, responded that he is suffering from depression and he was supposed to be an army officer.

Otunba Olumide Abegunde, a London based businessman, who was attentive to the man, advised parents against sending their children abroad at an early age without guardians as this make them easily susceptible to temptations in a new society through early exposure to drugs and all other societal ills.

Otunba Abegunde also sited the case of Temidayo Awe, who is serving seven years in UK prison over conspiracy and manslaughter, as a typical example.

“When you enter in any club in London, 90% of the patrons are Nigerians, blaring top Nigerian songs from dusk till dawn!

“Too much freedom and the laws in the United Kingdom are responsible in shaping the lives of the young ones into what we may not want.

“When you send your kids abroad at such age of 18years, there is need to find a way to monitor them. If not this kind of thing would definitely happen to them,” Otunba Abegunde cautioned.
