The Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks, ACAMB, has mourned veteran journalist, media entrepreneur and publisher of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, who died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 56 following a brief illness in Lagos.

In a statement signed by ACAMB Publicity Secretary, Abiodun Coker, on behalf of the association, ACAMB described Oladipo’s death as a painful loss to Nigeria’s media and communications community.

Oladipo, who was also Chief Executive Officer of Premium Eagle Media Limited, built a career spanning traditional journalism, media management and digital publishing.

ACAMB said his professional journey reflected the transformation of Nigeria’s media industry from conventional journalism to the rapidly expanding digital landscape.

The association noted that Oladipo was not only an accomplished journalist but also an entrepreneur whose work contributed significantly to the growth and professionalisation of online publishing in Nigeria.

His influence, according to ACAMB, extended beyond the organisations he led, with his professionalism and relationships across the industry earning him respect among colleagues and other stakeholders.

Since news of his death emerged, tributes have continued to come from individuals, media organisations, professional bodies and institutions across the country, including the Presidency.

Many mourners have remembered Dotun Oladipo as a consummate professional, a gentleman and a committed journalist who made a lasting contribution to Nigerian journalism.

ACAMB President, Babajide Sipe, said Oladipo’s death had created a significant void in the media and communications industry.

“The passing of Dotun Oladipo is a profound loss to Nigeria’s media and communications industry. Dotun was a builder who dedicated decades of his life to journalism and played a significant role in the growth of Nigeria’s digital media ecosystem,” Sipe said.

He stressed the importance of the relationship between journalism and corporate communications, noting that the media plays an essential role in informing communities and shaping public discourse.

“For those of us in corporate communications and marketing, the media remains an indispensable partner in building informed communities and strengthening public discourse. Dotun understood this relationship deeply and contributed immensely to the profession through his work, leadership, and enduring relationships across the media industry,” he added.

ACAMB also highlighted his commitment to professionalism and ethical journalism, saying his work helped shape national conversations and reinforce the media’s important role in society.

The association extended its condolences to Oladipo’s family, friends, colleagues and associates, as well as the wider Nigerian media community.
