It seems almost impossible to find the classic music of yesteryears these days, but Lavolta Stars, an Afrocentric band, is rewriting history with the official release of its classic, undiluted, highlife music rebirth titled ‘Agbedegbeyoni’ on this day, 24 Dec. 2020.

In a time when the world is in chaos and ravaged by a novel COVID-19 pandemic, people are looking for ways to get through the times positively. Lavolta Entertainment has decided to bring back the nostalgia of old when classic African music reigned supreme, and all we had to do was to imagine slotting our record into the gramophone player or our cassette into the cassette player, while we close our eyes and enjoy the rhythmic concoction of sonorous voices and strong instrumentals; the likes you could only imagine from one of the greatest cerebral cultural activist from this part of the world, the late Dr Stephen Oladipupo Olaore Owomoyela, fondly known as Dr Orlando Owoh.

While the new generation band is not claiming to fill the big shoe left behind by the legendary native of Ifon, Lavolta Stars has over the years done justice and provided a great alternative to the euphoria of Afropop of today, linking the rich sounds of yesteryears to the contemporary music of today.

The word ‘Agbedegbeyoni’ connotes the individual that understands the grassroots of a culture. In other words, this song takes you back to the rich roots of undiluted Nigerian music of yesteryears, thereby portraying the music philosophy of the Lavolta Stars.

Although, it may look like the year is running out, for the hardworking Lavolta Stars, all plans are already in place to cap 2021 with the release of another great song that will drop on the eve of the New Year.

For now, welcome to the world of Lavolta Stars; classic, undiluted, African music, “Agbedegbeyoni”, produced by HN Productions and Solemn Entertainment.
