Bode George insecurity criticism: PDP’s Bode George says 90-day ultimatum should be directed at President Tinubu, not service chiefs
Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, has criticised the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, over his recent 90-day ultimatum on Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, insisting that such a directive should be directed at President Bola Tinubu rather than the service chiefs.

George made the remarks on Friday while reacting to Adeboye’s sermon in which the cleric expressed concern over rising insecurity and urged urgent action from the nation’s security leadership.
The PDP stalwart described the cleric’s position as misplaced, arguing that constitutional responsibility for national security rests squarely with the President as Commander-in-Chief.
He maintained that holding service chiefs solely accountable ignores the broader chain of authority.
In his response, George used a newsroom analogy to stress his point, saying responsibility ultimately lies with the head of leadership, not subordinate officers.
He added that if security outcomes are poor, accountability should trace back to the appointing authority.
The criticism further intensified ongoing public debate over Nigeria’s security challenges, with growing calls for more decisive action from the federal government.
George emphasised that President Tinubu, as the appointing authority of the service chiefs, has the power to replace or direct them if they fail to meet expectations.
He insisted that leadership responsibility cannot be shifted away from the presidency.
