The makers of Peak milk and Nigeria’s leading dairy brands, FrieslandCampina WAMCO, has tagged as untrue and grossly misleading a story published in the media about its contaminated milk.

Recall that Freelanews reported how Lagos State government agency in charge of the safety and wellbeing of its citizen met with stakeholders over the reported sale of hazardous and contaminated milk products and the subsequent closure of a warehouse in Isheri.

The manufacturing company has stated that FrieslandCampina WAMCO shouldn’t be held liable for the sale of congealed milk by a street hawker long after its shelf life.

According to a press release signed by its corporate affairs executive director, Ore Famurewa, and made available to Freelanews, the company reiterated its commitment to public safety.

“FrieslandCampina WAMCO, makers of Peak milk and Nigeria’s leading dairy brands, is aware of an online news about a claim of congealed milk bought from an independent seller in an area of Lagos State.

“Our company is currently collaborating on a joint investigation with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) over the issue to address any public concern. So far internal and external investigations have shown that the integrity of our manufacturing, batching, warehousing and distribution of our products has remained intact.

“In a meeting with the Agency and other stakeholders, FrieslandCampina WAMCO reiterated its commitment to the sale of only genuine, high quality Peak products that are safe for consumption and fit for use as per the product label and expiry details,” she disclosed.

Famurewa, however, advised consumers to regularly use the toll free number on products’ packs to interact directly with the company should the need arise.

“Following this, the company has called on consumers to always use its expanded toll free number and email on the pack of all its products to liaise with dedicated professionals on any inquiry. This platform caters for consumers across Nigeria.

“While we expect the conclusive result of the investigation, we take this opportunity to reassure our consumers that FrieslandCampina WAMCO will continue to provide consumers wholesome dairy products,” she said.

For over 60 years, the Peak brand has been providing Nigerians with quality dairy nutrition.

“The integrity of the Peak brand is based on its stringent quality process. Peak is rich and creamy natural nutrition that strengthens and supports daily body activities. The Peak brand is ambitious to enable all Nigerians reach their Peak every day,” Famurewa concluded.
