The Customs Area Controller (CAC) in charge of the command, Joy Edelduok, disclosed this information while addressing members of the press at the command headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday.

She emphasized that the importation of these expired drugs was a clear violation of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.

“The command seized nine 40-foot containers of expired drugs, which contravene the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023. These seized items would be handed over to NAFDAC for further actions,” stated CAC Edelduok.

In addition to this significant seizure, CAC Edelduok also announced that the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command successfully generated a total revenue of N38 billion between January and March 2025.

This figure represents a substantial progressive difference of N14.4 billion, indicating an impressive 61 percent increase compared to the N23.7 billion collected by the command during the corresponding period in 2024.

“When compared with N23.7bn collected in the same period in 2024, it clearly showed a progressive difference of N14.4bn, representing a 61 per cent increase,” she elaborated.

The CAC attributed this remarkable revenue growth to the implementation of effective revenue collection strategies and the diligent efforts of the officers and men of the command in actively combating smuggling and all forms of illicit trade.

Furthermore, CAC Edelduok highlighted the Command’s strong commitment to stakeholder engagement through the adoption of an open-door policy, which has fostered positive relationships and promoted greater compliance among stakeholders.

She expressed her sincere appreciation to the various stakeholders and partner agencies for their invaluable collaboration and urged them to continue working together for the overall good of the nation.

CAC Edelduok also extended her gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team for their unwavering support, motivation, and for providing the enabling platform for the command to excel.
