Adeleke Confirms Davido Not Aanu’s Father After DNA Tests

Davido paternity dispute ends as Dr Deji Adeleke says DNA tests confirm the Afrobeats star is not Aanu’s father

Dr Deji Adeleke, Nigerian billionaire businessman and father of Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has confirmed that DNA tests show his son is not the father of a girl named Aanu.

Dr Adeleke disclosed this while addressing journalists at his Lagos residence, stating that multiple DNA tests conducted in Lagos ruled out Davido’s paternity.

He said the family first became aware of the matter in 2014 after receiving a letter from a lawyer in Ibadan.

The letter alleged that Davido had impregnated a woman, Ayo Labinjoh, and abandoned the child.

According to Dr Adeleke, three DNA tests were conducted for Davido. Two returned negative results, while a third sample was declared contaminated.

He added that additional tests were carried out for Davido’s cousin, Adebayo Adeleke, known as B Red, to rule out mistaken identity. Those tests were also negative.

Dr Adeleke, who said he has 14 grandchildren, stressed that science must determine paternity.

He said he would have accepted the child willingly if DNA evidence supported the claim.

He also raised concerns about inconsistencies in the child’s birth certificate.

The document reportedly listed both parents with the Adeleke surname, which he described as questionable.

Despite the DNA results, Dr Adeleke said he supported the girl and her mother financially.

He explained that the family sponsored the mother’s university education and paid for the child’s schooling through primary level.

The Davido paternity dispute resurfaced on January 15, 2025, after an Instagram account linked to Labinjoh appealed publicly to the singer. The post claimed the child faced bullying and sought another DNA test.

Davido rejected the allegation on X, formerly Twitter, insisting that several DNA tests had already proven negative. He described the renewed claims as baseless.

Labinjoh later shared alleged private messages between the child and the singer.

Dr Adeleke, however, claimed a relative of the girl told him that the social media accounts pushing the narrative were operated by a media personality without the family’s consent.

The case remains one of the most scrutinised celebrity disputes in Nigeria, drawing intense public attention and debate.
