DJ Chicken arrest alleged by his lawyer, who claims the TikTok personality is in custody over a video about Seyi Tinubu. Authorities are yet to confirm
Rotimi Stephen, lawyer to controversial disc jockey and TikTok personality Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has alleged that his client was arrested in Lagos and is currently being held by security authorities over comments made in a viral video about President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

Stephen made the claim in a video posted on his Instagram page on Thursday, saying the social media personality was apprehended in Ikeja before being taken to the Ikeja Police Headquarters.
The lawyer also suggested that the Department of State Services (DSS) could be involved in the matter, although he said he had not received official confirmation.
“So, DJ Chicken is now with the authorities. He was arrested at Ikeja and he is now at Ikeja Police Headquarters but I am very sure it is the DSS.
He was arrested in connection with the statement he made some days ago about the son of the President, Seyi Tinubu,” Stephen said.
According to the lawyer, the alleged DJ Chicken arrest followed the circulation of a video in which the entertainer made remarks about Seyi Tinubu that attracted widespread attention on social media.
In the video, spoken in Yoruba, DJ Chicken said, “Tinubu, you can’t win the election. If you win, I will kill Seyi Tinubu. I won’t say more than that.”
The comments quickly went viral, drawing criticism from several social media users because of the apparent threat contained in the recording.
Appealing for leniency, Stephen urged the comedian’s supporters and individuals with access to the Presidency to intervene, describing DJ Chicken as someone he had personally mentored and supported over the years.
“Please, fans and well-wishers, people that like Chicken and people that are close with the Presidency, please forgive Chicken. He is not that okay.
We are just managing him. Chicken is my own personal project. It is my own part of giving back to society,” he said.
“We are begging, please. Government should please forgive him. We will do everything.”
Stephen also expressed uncertainty about the legal steps available to him, saying, “I don’t know what to do again. They should please.”
DJ Chicken has built a large online following through outspoken livestreams and controversial social media content, frequently attracting public attention for provocative remarks and online confrontations.
Under Nigerian law, alleged threats of violence and statements considered capable of endangering public safety may attract investigation by law enforcement or other security agencies.
However, any suspect is entitled to the constitutional presumption of innocence and due process until proven guilty by a competent court.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Department of State Services had issued an official statement confirming the alleged arrest or explaining the circumstances surrounding DJ Chicken’s reported detention.

The absence of official confirmation means the lawyer’s claims remain unverified, and the reasons for any possible detention have not been independently established.
