The suspect, Ikechukwu Peter Akpudo, allegedly posed as the Eze Ndigbo of Kano to defraud Maduka Madubuike of the sum of ₦147 million.
The victim reportedly transferred the money into Akpudo’s Ecobank account number 2141093202 as payment for a property located at House 14, New Road, Sabon Gari, Kano.

Akpudo pleaded not guilty to the charge. His lawyer, Okechukwu Nwabueze, raised no objection when the charge was read.
The court admitted several documents as evidence, including statements from the complainant and the defendant, bank transaction records, and photographs of the disputed property.
The trial judge adjourned the case to 2 July 2026 for further hearing.
