The new upgrade is designed to offer customers a faster, safer, and more convenient digital banking experience.

The latest update includes enhanced security features and new user-friendly tools that simplify everyday banking. Among the key additions is the use of facial biometrics for secure sign-up and activation of the FirstMobile app.

According to the bank, the FirstMobile app facial recognition feature allows users to register or activate their app using only facial verification.

The process comes with anti-spoof technology that prevents unauthorised access and ensures robust protection of customer accounts.

This upgrade solves a range of practical problems. It helps users who have misplaced or expired their debit cards, those with limited card access, and customers in the diaspora without physical card availability.

The new feature is also helpful to those who choose not to use cards but still require seamless mobile banking access.

With the facial recognition feature, users can access essential services like transfers and bill payments swiftly and reliably, supported by improved transaction processing.

Also introduced in the app are virtual credit cards for safe online shopping, instant activation of credit cards, and salary advances with flexible three-month repayment plans.

These tools offer both security and convenience, especially for users who need instant and secure financial solutions.

With these new services now live on FirstMobile, we are confident we will undoubtedly enhance our customers’ digital experience.

In addition to these major features, several bug fixes and backend enhancements have been implemented to ensure the FirstMobile app runs smoother than ever.

The changes align with FirstBank’s commitment to delivering top-tier digital experiences that prioritise speed, simplicity, and security.

The FirstMobile app facial recognition launch represents a major milestone in the bank’s digital evolution.

The facial biometric sign-up allows customers to complete onboarding in seconds, without needing any physical documentation or PIN.

“With these new services now live on FirstMobile, we are confident we will undoubtedly enhance our customers’ digital experience,” said Chukwuma Ezirim, Group Executive, E-Business and Retail Products Division at FirstBank.

Beyond these updates, the app’s interface continues to provide a full suite of services including account management, airtime top-up, data subscriptions, utility payments, and standing orders—all accessible from the user’s mobile device.

FirstBank says the features are designed to serve both new and existing customers, including those with limited access to traditional verification channels.

The virtual credit card enables secure online purchases without the need for a physical card, reducing fraud risks significantly.

With its latest updates, FirstBank is reaffirming its role as a leader in digital banking innovation in Nigeria and across West Africa.

The company has said it will continue investing in cutting-edge technologies to provide secure, easy, and convenient banking to its growing customer base.

The FirstMobile app facial recognition feature is now available to all customers via the latest app update on both Android and iOS platforms.
