Iyabo Obasanjo urges Ogun West candidates to avoid opportunism, pledges to support local leadership in 2027
Iyabo Obasanjo has advised Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, to remain loyal to the political system he started in rather than seeking the Ogun governorship opportunistically.

Speaking during a live discussion on political hurdles for Nigerian women ahead of 2027 elections, Obasanjo emphasized that candidates who come from other states just to contest in Ogun undermine the political system.
She stressed her commitment to ensuring Ogun West produces a governor after her tenure and expressed confidence in her capacity to serve the people, highlighting her previous political experience as Senator for Ogun Central.

Recently returning to active politics and joining the All Progressives Congress, she declared her intention to run for governor in 2027, promising to bridge governance gaps and prioritize the needs of Ogun residents.
