The Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, will on Monday, February 2, 2026, hold its fourth Founder’s Day Celebration at the College of Agriculture Main Auditorium, Ikorodu Campus, according to the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr Lanre Kuye.
Kuye said the celebration, themed “Mapping the Future,” reflects the university’s role as a blueprint institution defining the mandate of modern science and technology education in Nigeria.
He disclosed that the highlight of the event would be the Founder’s Day Lecture to be delivered by Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, FAS, FNISEB, FNSBMB, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure. Professor Oladiji is expected to speak on the topic “Achieving the Objectives of Universities of Science and Technology.”
According to Kuye, activities lined up for the day include interactive sessions, events showcasing the university’s achievements, and a guided tour of key infrastructure projects across the campus.
He noted that the Founder’s Day Celebration underscores LASUSTECH’s commitment to fostering a strong academic community and contributing meaningfully to national development through science, technology and innovation.
Kuye recalled that LASUSTECH was formally established in 2022 following the transmutation of the former Lagos State Polytechnic into a university, a process initiated and signed into law by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, as part of his administration’s vision to expand access to higher education in science, technology and innovation.
He added that the university is led by its pioneer Vice Chancellor, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya, under whose leadership the institution commenced with thirty-seven approved academic programmes across five colleges: the College of Agriculture, the College of Engineering Technology, the College of Environmental Design and Technology, the College of Basic Sciences, and the College of Applied Social Sciences.
Kuye said the university has since expanded to forty-two accredited programmes, reflecting steady growth and diversification, and has continued to strengthen its academic offerings and infrastructure.
He further stated that LASUSTECH received its Certificate of Operating Licence from the National Universities Commission on February 8, 2022, admitted its first set of students in the 2022 to 2023 academic session, and has maintained a trajectory of development aligned with its mandate.
