The suspect claimed he found the device on the ground near the party entrance but later admitted he had taken it from the front door of the venue.
According to investigators, the suspect first showed the phone to a party-goer, stating it belonged to a friend.
He asked the person to call the phone, but the call did not connect because the suspect had removed the SIM card.
When asked if he wanted to sell the phone, the suspect hesitated, claiming he did not know the owner.
The rightful owner had left the phone on a table during the event and initially believed friends were playing a prank.
Information later came from an external contact who informed him that a man was trying to sell an iPhone allegedly found at the party.
The suspect repeatedly changed his story, initially claiming he found the phone at a railway station and later admitting he took it at the party entrance.
Authorities confirmed that the man was not truthful and had intended to profit from the stolen device.
