Football transfer expert Nicolò Schira disclosed that Maresca has agreed to a contract with Manchester City that would run until 2028, with an option to extend the deal until 2029.
According to Schira, the final outcome now depends on Guardiola’s decision regarding his future at the Etihad Stadium, while Maresca is reportedly waiting for further developments.
Manchester City are understood to view the Italian tactician as the leading candidate to succeed Guardiola should the Spaniard depart at the end of the season.
Guardiola, who previously managed FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich, still has one year remaining on his current contract with Manchester City.
However, speculation surrounding a possible exit has continued to intensify despite the club’s domestic dominance in recent seasons.
The 55-year-old manager recently addressed questions over his future but insisted that no final decision had yet been taken.
The Maresca Manchester City links have generated strong interest across European football, particularly because of the Italian’s close working relationship with Guardiola during his previous spell as part of City’s coaching staff.
Maresca has built a growing reputation in management and is widely regarded as one of the brightest tactical minds among the new generation of European coaches.
