General Christopher Musa issued the directive during a meeting with the service chiefs on Wednesday at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting was convened to assess the worsening security situation in the two regions following a recent surge in attacks by terrorist groups targeting communities and military formations.
According to the Minister’s Media Adviser, Timothy Antigha, the service chiefs were instructed to conduct on-ground assessments of military operations and recommend adjustments aimed at improving the effectiveness of security efforts.
General Christopher Musa emphasised the need for urgent operational changes to address the escalating threats.
“Ensure you rejig military operations in the North-East and North-West region,” the defence minister told the service chiefs, Antigha said.
The directive comes amid growing concern over repeated assaults on military bases and the killing of several personnel during recent attacks in the affected regions.
Following their visits, the service chiefs are expected to submit detailed reports outlining their findings and recommendations to the Ministry of Defence.
