The collaborative effort will leverage technology, clinical expertise, and strong community engagement to bridge critical gaps in cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment across the continent.

This partnership comes at a crucial time, as cancer remains a leading cause of death globally, with Africa facing a particularly significant challenge in terms of access to quality care.

In Nigeria alone, cancer is responsible for an estimated 72,000 deaths annually, with 102,000 new cases reported each year, according to the National Cancer Prevention and Control Plan (2018-2022).

The partnering organizations outlined their plans to utilize telehealth, radiodiagnostics, second opinions from leading global oncology experts, and access to advanced therapies to improve cancer care outcomes in underserved communities.

“By joining forces with Medicaid Cancer Foundation and WorldCare, we are not just expanding access—we are reshaping the future of cancer care on the continent,” said Dr. Funmi Adewara, CEO and Founder of Mobihealth International.

They will also deploy technology-enabled screening programs, empower primary health centers with remote diagnostic capabilities, and invest in building the capacity of local medical professionals to deliver high-quality cancer care.

WorldCare Inc., renowned for its network of Harvard-affiliated specialists providing world-class second opinions, will contribute its extensive expertise in oncology, diagnostics, and advanced therapeutic recommendations to support both African clinicians and patients.

Dr. Funmi Adewara, CEO and Founder of Mobihealth International, expressed her optimism about the partnership’s potential impact.

“This partnership is about hope, innovation, and impact,” she stated. “By joining forces with Medicaid Cancer Foundation and WorldCare, we are not just expanding access—we are reshaping the future of cancer care on the continent.”

Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, Founder of Medicaid Cancer Foundation and President of the Union for International Cancer Control, emphasized the shared vision of deepening access to cancer care across Africa.
