The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme plans to expand participating organisations as it prepares for a second phase of graduate placements nationwide

The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme is preparing to expand its roster of participating organisations as it moves towards a second implementation phase, programme organisers disclosed on Tuesday.

The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme was launched through a partnership between the Federal Government, the United Nations Development Programme, and the European Union to address youth unemployment by placing young Nigerian graduates in 12 month work placements with organisations that offer mentorship and practical training.

Under the scheme, participating organisations register and outline their skills needs, while graduates apply and undergo screening.

Successful matches result in year long placements, with the programme managing screening, documentation, and administrative support, and host organisations providing supervision and workplace experience.

Since inception, the initiative has placed thousands of fellows across multiple sectors and states.

Several host organisations have transitioned fellows into permanent roles, while others have leveraged the programme to access skilled talent they might otherwise struggle to attract through conventional recruitment channels.

Organisers said the next phase will focus on refining the matching process to deliver stronger outcomes for both fellows and host organisations.

The goal is to reduce mismatches and ensure placements contribute meaningfully to career development and operational needs.

Participation is open to registered businesses, government agencies, and non governmental organisations with the capacity to supervise fellows and provide required documentation, including Corporate Affairs Commission registration and tax identification numbers.

There is no participation fee.

Organisations can apply online by creating a profile, submitting documentation, and specifying the support they require.

Approved organisations are added to the matching pool for future placements.

Programme coordinators noted that smaller organisations, particularly those outside major commercial centres, benefit from access to graduate level talent, while larger institutions use the scheme to identify future hires and contribute to tackling Nigeria’s persistent youth unemployment challenge.
