Solar mini grid project in Ogun waterside forms part of a wider initiative covering nine local government areas within the senatorial district, aimed at improving electricity supply for commercial hubs and rural communities.
The development, facilitated by former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel, popularly known as OGD, is expected to provide a more stable and sustainable power source for traders and residents within the bustling fish market area.
Project engineers on site confirmed steady progress on installation works, with key components of the solar infrastructure being positioned to support consistent energy distribution once completed.
The initiative is seen as a major boost for local economic activity, particularly for fish traders who rely heavily on cold storage and processing facilities that require uninterrupted power supply.
Residents and business owners in the area have described the project as a welcome development, expressing optimism that it will reduce dependence on diesel generators and lower operational costs in the long term.
Officials involved in the project noted that the solar mini grid rollout is part of broader efforts to promote clean energy adoption and improve infrastructure resilience across Ogun East.
