Police Foil Toyota Highlander

Police successfully foil Toyota highlander theft attempt in Ondo State, arresting two suspects and recovering the vehicle intact.

Toyota highlander theft was thwarted on October 4, 2025, when police in Ondo State intercepted two suspects trying to steal the vehicle belonging to Olaolu Benson of Lege.

The incident was confirmed by DSP Olushola Ayanlade, spokesperson for the Ondo police command, in a statement issued from Akure.

The suspects, Oluwajobi Ezekiel and Patrick Francis, both acquaintances of the owner, deceived Benson by claiming the tyre of his 2012 Toyota Highlander Jeep was deflated.

Trusting them, Benson handed over the vehicle for the purpose of checking the tyre.

Instead of returning, the duo diverted the car, refuelled at a nearby filling station, and attempted to drive the vehicle to Ondo town with the intent to sell it off.

Their suspicious behaviour quickly aroused concern, leading to prompt action by the Kajola Police Division.

Intelligence officers launched a swift and discreet operation, arresting the suspects before they could dispose of the vehicle.
The Toyota Highlander was recovered in excellent condition and the suspects taken into custody for questioning.

Preliminary investigations have revealed the plan was deliberate and well-coordinated. The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough probe to identify any accomplices and potential buyers involved in the criminal network.

The police praised the breakthrough as a testament to their dedication in combating crime across the state.

Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal has assured residents of Ondo State that offenders will face the full force of the law.

DSP Ayanlade also urged the public to exercise caution when entrusting vehicles or valuables to others, regardless of familiarity, highlighting the need for vigilance to prevent such crimes.
