Family releases burial programme for Princess Sabainah Ibironke Opawole, who died at the age of 93 after a brief illness
The families of Opawole, Osoba and Daniel have announced the final burial arrangements for Princess Sabainah Ibironke Opawole (née Osoba), the mother of former Ogun State First Lady Yeye Olufunke Daniel and mother-in-law of former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel.

Princess Opawole died peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of faith, humility, family values and service.
According to the burial programme released by the family, a Wake Keep and Service of Songs will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Skyview Pavilion, Conference Hotels, Abeokuta.
The final funeral rites will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026, beginning with a Lying-in-State from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Ibara Baptist Church, Isale-Igbein, Abeokuta.
A Funeral and Thanksgiving Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same church.
Born on April 23, 1933, Princess Opawole was the daughter of Princess Mariam Ladigbolu of the renowned Ladigbolu Royal Family of Oyo Kingdom and the late Rev. O. Osoba of Olodo Village in Abeokuta.
She was widely respected for her steadfast Christian faith, humility and commitment to family life.
A devoted member of the Baptist denomination, she dedicated much of her life to serving God, supporting her family and impacting those around her through her quiet generosity and exemplary values.
Her passing has drawn condolences from political leaders, associates, friends and well-wishers across Ogun State and beyond, many of whom have paid tribute to her enduring influence and remarkable character.
Princess Opawole is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Yeye Olufunke Daniel, who served as First Lady of Ogun State during the administration of her husband, former Governor Gbenga Daniel.
Announcing the Princess Sabainah Opawole Funeral programme on behalf of the family, Yeye Olufunke Daniel expressed gratitude for her mother’s long and impactful life, describing her as a woman whose virtues would continue to inspire generations.
“We thank God for the life of this saint,” the family said.
Princess Sabainah Ibironke Opawole’s passing marks the end of a life that spanned more than nine decades of faith, resilience and family devotion.

Her legacy, family members said, will continue to live on through the values she instilled in her children and the many lives she touched throughout her lifetime.
