In a statement issued on Friday, the former Olori Oluwo clarified that she met Mr. Akanbi through a “popular Lagos monarch at a party in Ikeja,” not through His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife.
She stressed that during her time as Olori Oluwo, she regarded the Lagos monarch as her “Royal Father” and still holds him in high esteem.
Turning to her private life, Queen Chanel accused Mr. Akanbi of abandoning their son, Prince Oduduwa of Iwo Kingdom, for over five years, both emotionally and financially.
She disclosed that his only recent support came in August when he sent $500, but refused to sign documents required for the boy’s Canadian passport.
“I have carried the responsibility for our child’s basic needs alone because I believe in peaceful co-parenting,” she said, explaining why she had previously remained silent.
She urged the public to ignore “falsehoods being peddled against the Ooni of Ife,” describing him as “the foremost monarch of the Yoruba race.”
Queen Chanel further called for the traditional institution to discipline Mr. Akanbi, saying his conduct was unbecoming of the sacred stool he is linked to.

Ending her statement, she declared this would be her “final comment on matters concerning Mr. Akanbi,” affirming her enduring love for Prince Oduduwa and expressing faith that the truth will ultimately prevail.
