Former Liverpool FC manager Jürgen Klopp has described Mohamed Salah as “irreplaceable” following the forward’s decision to leave the club at the end of the current season.

The Salah Liverpool exit will bring to a close a remarkable eight-year spell at Anfield, where the Egyptian forward established himself as one of the club’s greatest-ever players after joining from AS Roma in 2017.
Salah scored 255 goals during his time with Liverpool, placing him among the club’s all-time leading scorers and cementing a legacy defined by consistency, discipline and elite performance.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Klopp praised the forward’s professionalism and work ethic, describing him as one of the finest players he managed during his tenure.
“Salah is an incredible professional. He set completely new standards for a football player, how hard you can work and how much you can invest in recovery,” he said.
Klopp acknowledged that replacing a player of Salah’s calibre would be a formidable task, insisting that such talent cannot be replicated directly.
“This specific kind of player is irreplaceable. There will be a void that somebody will fill,” he added.
Rather than seeking a like-for-like replacement, Klopp urged the club to adopt a strategic approach by reshaping its style of play.
He suggested that success would depend on building a system that maximises the strengths of new players rather than attempting to mirror Salah’s unique qualities.
During their time together, Klopp and Salah formed a powerful partnership that delivered major honours, including the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League trophy.
Reflecting on the forward’s impact, Klopp noted that his achievements may stand unmatched for years. “The numbers he produced and the standards he set will stay unmatched in this modern Premier League era,” he said.
The Salah Liverpool exit signals the end of a defining era for the club, which will begin the next season without the Egyptian for the first time since 2016.
Klopp described the departure as a fair outcome for both player and club, emphasising the absence of any ill feeling.
