So many things seem to be happening at the same in the life of the former Nigerian international, Nkwankwo Kanu, today, December 2, 2020.
Nigerians woke up to a post by Osaze Odemwingie, who is also a former Nigerian international, where he called out Kanu’s wife, Amara, for sliding into his DM on a day Kanu is battling to save his company, Hardley Apartments, as the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) sought to recover an alleged N924million debt owed.
Osaze took to his Instagram handle to allege that Amara has been “chasing” him “relentlessly” for a chat. He slammed Amara, saying he doesn’t talk to people’s wives and also called her a failed mother after sharing a photo of Amara Kanu with her son lying on a hospital bed. He warned her that “destruction is upon her” for sliding into his DM.
Osaze wrote:
“The reason why Nigeria is in this state. Too many want to be like America. God turned his back at america as things stand. Destruction is upon her. How can a wife of a legend like @kingkanu4 be chasing me for a chat relentlessly ( check ur DM check your DM ) na by force ? @amarakanu.
“Your husband has my number and it’s not in our culture to msg another man without asking your husband. Moreover u r wearing arsenal kit and he can ask them for advice about knee surgery because he also suffered from similar issues.
“Your son can’t have a cross on his neck and make those hand signs. That’s fake Christianity if you didn’t know ok. Our people selling their own to conform to African American.
“Those there have been modified by Hollywood and are no more Africans. They don’t even want to associate with Africa with their billions in accounts. How many of them visited Africa in the last 50 years ? Shouldn’t NBA all star match take place in Nigeria at least once? Shouldn’t they be interested to know where their ancestors came from ? Set your own trend Naija u r more special than America. #prayfornigeria #naija #nigeria @amarakanu why why why Amara ( Delailah). We love our strong man Papilo. Wash your hands well oh. And most importantly your hearts as I am preaching to many now. Nigeria ?? is more precious to God than America ??”
In another post, Osaze Peter Odemwingie wrote:
“@amarakanu If your hello can’t be public it’s probably not just a hello. Mine is #nigeria #naija LUKE 10:19.”
In her reaction, Amara, while commenting under the post, begged Osaze to take the post down.
She wrote:
“@odemwingie_81 oh no no no. Kindly take this post down. @kingkanu4 is fully aware of this. We want to talk to you as a family.”
While there seemed to be some relief for Amara as the post longer exist on Osaze’s timeline but her husband may not be so lucky when the Federal High Court in Lagos adjourned his case till January 16.
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke fixed the date for hearing of all pending applications. The suit was originally scheduled for mention.
AMCON filed the suit in 2015 with Hardley Apartments and its Director, Ayoola Gam-Ikon as first and second defendants.
The case was assigned to Justice Okon Abang, but, following his transfer to another jurisdiction, it was reassigned to Justice Aneke.
In December 2015, following AMCON’s application, Justice Abang granted an order freezing the accounts of the former Super Eagles’ captain and Hardley Apartments.
The order, which was to subsist pending the determination of the suit, followed AMCON’s bid to recover the debt.
In an affidavit by a Credit Officer, Mr Victor Igabor, AMCON said between May 2008 and January, 2011, Skye Bank offered Hardley Apartments a loan of N520,457,000.
It alleged that the hospitality firm based in Victoria Island, Lagos and Gam-Ikon, could not repay the loan.
The defendants’ indebtedness as at October 15 was said to be N924,788,754.56, representing principal and interest.
AMCON, which bought over the loan, told the court that if the restraining order was not granted, Kanu’s and the company’s assets could be dissipated.
It sought an order attaching the debt due from Hardley Apartments as well as debts accruing from the defendants jointly and severally.
AMCON prayed for an order freezing all accounts belonging to the defendants jointly and severally in any bank or financial institution in Nigeria.
Granting the order, Justice Abang said AMCON could, in the interim, possess all the movable and immovable properties known as Plot 46, Waziri Ibrahim Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos belonging to Kanu.
The court also froze all accounts belonging to the defendants jointly and severally anywhere and in any bank and any financial institution in Nigeria pending the hearing of the suit.
The case again came up on June 17, 2015 but was adjourned till October 15, 2019 due to vacation in the judiciary, after which it was adjourned to January 28, 2020 and assigned to Justice Aneke.
