The Lagos State Police Command has successfully arrested two individuals accused of drugging a school’s security guard and robbing the institution of property valued at millions of Naira. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesman in Lagos State, the incident occurred on December 29, 2023.

The suspects reportedly purchased sedatives close to the school before engaging the security guard in seemingly innocent discussions. Subsequently, they bought food from a nearby restaurant, drugged it, and handed it to the security guard. Once the security man consumed the drugged food, he fell asleep, providing an opportunity for the suspects to carry out their plan.
Taking advantage of the security guard’s incapacitation, the suspects broke into the school’s administrative office. Among the stolen items were the ignition key to the school’s bus, a 65-inch television set, and six inverter batteries. They fueled the bus with diesel from the parking lot and drove it away, also taking the security man’s iPhone 11 cell phone.
Following an investigation into the incident, one of the suspects was apprehended in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos, where the crime occurred. The arrested suspect confessed to the crime and cooperated with the police in identifying and locating his accomplice, who worked as a laundryman at a hotel in the Oshodi area of Lagos.
Both suspects admitted to selling the stolen diesel at Berger Bus Stop to an unidentified driver and driving the bus to Ibadan. However, the vehicle developed a mechanical fault near the toll gate in Ibadan, prompting them to abandon it. The suspects also sold the stolen inverter batteries in Ibadan.
