VeryDarkMan Blessing CEO investigation begins after petition over disputed cancer claim and donations controversy in Nigeria

Social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has confirmed that the Inspector General of Police has approved an investigation into relationship therapist Blessing Okoro, known as Blessing CEO, following a petition over a disputed cancer claim and public donations.

VeryDarkMan investigation follows weeks of intense controversy after Blessing Okoro claimed in a viral video posted on March 25, 2026, that she had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.

In the emotional footage, Blessing Okoro appeared visibly distressed and displayed signs of hair loss, which she attributed to the illness.

Blessing Okoro subsequently announced that she had begun auctioning personal assets to raise funds for treatment, prompting an outpouring of sympathy and financial support from members of the public.

The situation shifted dramatically after the Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State chapter, distanced itself from a histology report circulating online and linked to Blessing Okoro.

The association stated that the document appeared to have been altered from an original report belonging to another patient diagnosed with breast cancer.

Amid mounting backlash, Blessing Okoro later retracted the claim, stating in an interview that she did not have stage four cancer and describing the situation as a miscommunication.

Blessing Okoro also disclosed that total donations received amounted to 13 million naira before deactivating her social media account.

Martins Vincent Otse said the decision to pursue legal action stemmed from personal involvement, revealing that he had donated funds after being moved by the viral video.

Martins Vincent Otse described the experience as deeply troubling, noting that the episode risked undermining trust in genuine medical appeals.

VeryDarkMan Blessing CEO investigation has since drawn wider public attention, with commentators highlighting the potential implications for online fundraising and accountability in Nigeria’s digital space.

Legal analysts say the case could prove a defining moment in addressing alleged misinformation tied to financial solicitation.

A notable moment in the unfolding saga came when Martins Vincent Otse recounted how he contributed money despite having limited funds at the time, underscoring the emotional pull of the original appeal and the human cost of the controversy.

Police authorities have yet to release detailed findings, but officials indicated that the matter has been formally assigned for inquiry, raising expectations of further developments in the coming days.
