The cleric shared his remarks on Instagram on Monday, February 19, 2026, condemning both sexual assault and false accusations.
Arole described rape as “totally wrong” and emphasised the destructive consequences of false claims, noting that public apologies cannot undo the harm caused.
“It is wrong for a man to rape a woman, totally wrong. And it is evil for a woman to falsely allege a man that she raped her. A lot of lives have been ruined because of false allegations. Public apology is not enough,” he wrote, urging caution and honesty in handling such sensitive matters.
The controversy stems from Mirabel’s viral TikTok video, in which she claimed she was assaulted while intoxicated and asleep in her Lagos apartment.
She explained that the incident occurred while she struggled to sleep and was unable to fully comprehend the attack at the time.
Following the claims, the Lagos State Police Command and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency have reached out to Mirabel to gather additional details.
Meanwhile, social media users have highlighted inconsistencies in her account, prompting speculation that the allegations may be false.
