Yobe rape sentence handed down as a court jails a 22-year-old man for 12 years over assault on a minor in Jakusko LGA
A Magistrate Court sitting in Injiwaji, Damaturu, on Wednesday sentenced 22-year-old Rabilu Sani to 12 years in prison after finding him guilty of raping a four-year-old girl in Jakusko Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Court 1, delivered the ruling following the conclusion of legal proceedings in which the prosecution successfully established the offence beyond reasonable doubt.
Rape sentence was pronounced without the option of a fine, reflecting the gravity of the conviction.
During the proceedings, the court also addressed public speculation surrounding the defendant’s health status.
Medical examinations presented before the court confirmed that Rabilu Sani tested negative for HIV, dispelling rumours that had circulated during the course of the trial.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Ya Jalo Badama, played a key role in ensuring that the matter was pursued through the judicial system, supporting efforts to secure justice for the victim.
