Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, has lamented that many Nigerian households are unable to celebrate Christmas due to the severe economic challenges facing the country. In a Christmas message shared on Wednesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, Abure urged Nigerians to use this season as an opportunity to show love, serve one another, and practice forgiveness.

“Not many homes in Nigeria can afford to join in today’s Christmas celebrations due to the prevailing economic difficulties,” Abure said. He called on Nigerians to demonstrate kindness and compassion, especially to those suffering from poverty and hardship, reflecting on the life of Jesus Christ, who lived to serve the poor and marginalized.

The LP Chairman also acknowledged the sacrifices of military personnel stationed in conflict zones across the country, unable to be with their families during the holidays. “Many of our gallant soldiers are in trenches, ensuring our safety. I urge Nigerians to remember them in their prayers,” Abure stated.

In his message of peace, Abure emphasized the importance of forgiveness, urging Nigerians to follow Christ’s example by forgiving those who have wronged them.

“There is nothing that will bring more joy to humanity than to be ready and willing to forgive,” he said. He concluded by stressing that the true meaning of Christmas lies in embodying the spirit of love, sacrifice, and redemption.
