LASWA enhances Lagos waterways safety with expanded monitoring at 10 jetties and real-time ferry interaction systems

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has made significant strides in waterway management by expanding its control operations from four to ten jetties and terminal locations.

This upgrade underscores LASWA’s dedication to improving commuter safety and operational efficiency across Lagos’ waterways.

Previously, LASWA’s monitoring activities covered Falomo, Ikorodu, Ojo, and Liverpool jetties.

The recent addition of Bariga, Badagry, Ibeshe Ikorodu, Badore, and Ijegun Egba extends its oversight to critical new locations, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the state’s water transport network.

A groundbreaking feature of the upgrade is the deployment of advanced radio communication systems, enabling real-time interactions between ferries and the control room.

Every moment around the ferries is now captured and monitored live at the control room, enhancing response capabilities and ensuring safety.

To support this expansion, LASWA has also upgraded its server infrastructure, ensuring the system can handle the increased volume of data from the newly included jetties.

The improved server capacity guarantees seamless operations and efficient data processing, reflecting LASWA’s commitment to leveraging technology for better waterway management.

This development marks a new era for Lagos’ waterways, promising safer, more reliable, and technologically advanced transportation for residents.

The radio communications will only be between state owned ferries and the control room.
