[dropcap]P[/dropcap]alestinian President Mahmud Abbas has firmly rejected US President Donald Trump’s proposal for Washington to take control of the Gaza Strip.

Abbas condemned the plan as an attempt to displace Palestinians from their homeland, stating that Palestinian rights are non-negotiable.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Abbas’s office said, “President Mahmud Abbas and the Palestinian leadership expressed their strong rejection of calls to seize the Gaza Strip and displace Palestinians outside their homeland.”
Reading the official statement on Palestinian public television, Abbas’s spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina reiterated that the Gaza Strip remains an essential part of the Palestinian state.
“Gaza is an integral part of the State of Palestine,” he affirmed, rejecting any external interference in its governance.
The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), led by Abbas, also denounced Trump’s proposal.
PLO Secretary-General Hussein al-Sheikh dismissed any suggestion of relocating Gazans to Egypt or Jordan, declaring that Palestinians would not accept forced displacement.
Trump’s comments, made during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have sparked widespread concern.
The proposal to assume control over Gaza comes amid ongoing discussions about a possible ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

While Trump’s administration has maintained strong support for Israel, the Palestinian leadership continues to push for sovereignty and self-determination.
