Delta Airlines launches Lagos US flights with A350 and A330neo aircraft, plus new airport lounge, enhancing service for Nigerian travellers from October 2025

Delta Air Lines launches a major upgrade, Lagos US flights, with the deployment of new-generation aircraft and premium passenger services beginning in October 2025.

This development will see the airline operate Airbus A350-900 and A330-900neo jets on key routes between Lagos and major United States cities.

The project also includes the opening of a redesigned premium lounge at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport, offering modern amenities to enhance the travel experience for Nigerian passengers.

“With the launch of our new premium lounge in Lagos and the deployment of our newest aircraft, we are reaffirming Delta’s commitment to Nigerian travellers. This is more than an upgrade; it’s an investment in the future,” said Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.

From October 2025, Delta will operate the A350-900 on its Lagos–Atlanta route, replacing the A330-200.

According to Delta’s General Manager for the EMEAI region, Joseph Young, this change represents a 35 per cent increase in seat capacity, significantly enhancing transatlantic travel options.

“The A350-900 and A330-900neo both offer quieter cabins, better fuel efficiency, and improved in-flight comfort. Passengers can enjoy wider seats, better air pressure and humidity, and a more pleasant onboard environment,” Young noted.

During the peak festive season between 2 December and 16 January, the Lagos–New York route will be operated using the Airbus A330-900neo, a fuel-efficient wide-body aircraft also known for its spacious interior and advanced cabin features.

As part of the strategy, the airline is also investing in airport infrastructure. The new premium lounge in Lagos will feature Nigerian-inspired décor, private relaxation areas, high-speed internet access, and an assortment of premium food and beverages.

It is designed primarily for Delta One passengers and high-value clients in the oil and gas industry.

“The new Lagos lounge will feature modern Nigerian-inspired interiors, high-speed Wi-Fi, private relaxation spaces, and premium refreshments,” said Curcio.

“It is designed to serve Delta One customers and high-value clients in the oil and gas sector.”

These developments form part of Delta’s broader strategy to enhance services on African routes and ensure a competitive edge in the premium travel market.

The Delta launch Lagos US announcement signals a renewed commitment to delivering world-class service to Nigerian travellers and strengthening long-standing ties with West Africa.

Delta has operated consistently in Nigeria for almost two decades and remains one of the few global carriers with uninterrupted service on Lagos–US routes.

By introducing newer aircraft and improving airport services, the airline aims to elevate its brand among West African travellers.

The improved services will be especially beneficial to passengers travelling during peak holiday periods, who will enjoy increased seating availability, modernised cabin experiences, and a stress-free pre-flight environment.

“This is about offering our customers in Nigeria the best possible travel experience, both in the air and on the ground,” Young added.

Delta also stated that the aircraft upgrades and new lounge are being implemented in partnership with Nigerian aviation stakeholders to ensure smooth transitions and continued regulatory compliance.
