NAF Intervention Project brings solar lights, clean water to Ogun’s Anipupo community, strengthening civil-military ties and improving rural living standards

NAF Intervention Project has brought light, water, and hope to the Anipupo Community in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Wednesday inaugurated 30 solar-powered streetlights, an industrial borehole, and a 35,000-litre water storage facility to transform living conditions in the rural area.

The initiative, announced in a statement by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, is part of NAF’s broader mission to enhance civil-military relations and uplift underserved communities.

The project was executed in honour of Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, a native of Anipupo, in recognition of his contributions and as a legacy to inspire local development.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, represented by AVM Ibikunle Daramola, Chief of Civil-Military Relations, emphasized that this intervention aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and NAF’s responsibility beyond military operations.

“We are here not just to protect but to serve and empower. Lighting up Anipupo and providing clean water shows our commitment to national development,” he said.

Residents of Anipupo now have access to reliable, clean water and safe public lighting, two vital resources that improve health, enhance security, and support livelihoods.

AVM Marquis, visibly moved by the honour in his hometown, described the project as “a seed for sustainable development”, urging the community to maintain and protect the infrastructure.

“When we come together with a shared purpose, no challenge is too great,” he added.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by Environment Commissioner Ola Oresanya, praised the NAF’s action as “a shining example of partnership that transforms lives.”

He affirmed that the facilities complement his administration’s grassroots development strategy, reducing hardship and raising the standard of living in rural communities.

Local leaders and residents who witnessed the inauguration expressed heartfelt appreciation.
