Pastor Olawoye Kayode alleges DSS operatives intimidated him over criticism of Governor Abiodun’s administration in Ogun State

Pastor Olawoye Kayode of Zion Church has raised the alarm over what he described as an attempt by operatives of the Department of State Services to secretly trail, intimidate, and possibly abduct him following his persistent criticism of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.

In a video obtained by SaharaReporters on Thursday, Kayode alleged that two young men, claiming to be DSS officers from the agency’s Abeokuta command, stormed his church four days earlier demanding to know his whereabouts without providing any official reason.

The men reportedly left after a church worker refused to disclose his location and left their phone numbers behind.

“When I returned, I called the numbers on Monday, 8 December. One of them said he is a DSS officer and that they have a new boss transferred to Ogun State who wants to see me for a ‘familiarisation meeting’. I asked him why. He said, ‘Oh, you are becoming a stakeholder in Ogun State,’” Kayode said.

The cleric stated that he had informed his lawyer and senior church leaders, who advised him that any DSS invitation must be formally documented. “If DSS wants to invite you, they must send a formal letter,” he insisted.

Kayode added that after requesting the letter, the officer replied that there was “no problem,” a response he interpreted as a warning sign.

He also noted that credible intelligence suggested unknown men, described as suspected DSS operatives, have been seen driving around his church premises in black SUVs.

The pastor vowed to honour any legitimate invitation only with proper documentation and in the presence of his lawyer.

Kayode has been a vocal critic of Governor Abiodun, condemning what he calls the state’s collapsed infrastructure and the administration’s alleged nonchalance toward public complaints.

“In six years plus, there has been no development. When roads are bad, everything is bad.

People are losing their businesses, their homes, relocating to Lagos,” he said. “I am not afraid of anybody. If DSS wants me, they should send a letter.

Ogun State shall be great again. Every power of darkness fighting the progress of this state will go down. We will not bow to intimidation.”
