The update, released on Monday, shows the Super Eagles Ranking climbing by an impressive 12 places.

The Super Eagles moved up from 38th position following an outstanding performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they finished third overall.

The result marked one of Nigeria’s most convincing tournament displays in recent years and reinforced growing optimism around the team’s direction.

Under the leadership of head coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles demonstrated consistency, discipline and resilience throughout the competition.

They won six of their seven matches, with their only setback coming in the semi final where hosts Morocco edged them out on penalties after a tightly contested encounter.

Nigeria responded emphatically in the third place play off, defeating Egypt 4 2 in a thrilling contest that highlighted the team’s attacking quality and mental strength.

The performance played a crucial role in boosting the Super Eagles Ranking, as FIFA awarded the team the highest points increase in the latest update with a gain of 79.09 points.

At the top of the global standings, Spain remain number one, followed by Argentina, France, England and Brazil. Portugal, the Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium and Germany complete the world’s top ten, underscoring the competitive nature of elite international football.

On the African front, Morocco lead the continental rankings, with Senegal and Nigeria completing the top three.

Algeria, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Tunisia, Congo DR and Mali also feature among Africa’s top ten sides, reflecting the continent’s growing influence in world football.

Nigeria’s rise in the Super Eagles Ranking sends a clear and encouraging message about the nation’s football revival.
