The inaugural local adaptation of the world-renowned culinary reality show was introduced by Primedia Africa, in partnership with Banijay Rights, at the start of the entry period.

The competition, open to Nigerian citizens aged 18 and above who have not worked professionally as chefs, will be broadcast on DStv’s Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family.

Contestants will face a series of culinary challenges testing technique, originality, flavour, and presentation.

Kemi Omotosho, Chief Executive Officer of Africa Magic, described the show as a continuation of the network’s commitment to premium local content that highlights Nigeria’s creativity to audiences across Africa.

Sarah Mottershead, VP of Banijay Rights, added that the global format, which has aired over 16,000 episodes worldwide, is expected to deliver an “unforgettable culinary experience” for Nigerian viewers.

The MasterChef Nigeria judges, who will be announced in the coming weeks, will evaluate each dish and determine the last contestant standing.

Power Oil, the headline sponsor, emphasised its alignment with the show’s celebration of culinary excellence and innovative cooking.
